A father has come under fire for admitting he kisses his son on the lips.
Tom, a TikTok user known as @tom_leeds from Yorkshire, U.K., has received backlash for some content he posted on his page with his five-year-old child.
Tom shared with his over 400,000 followers a video of him and his son, showing off his and his child’s blue eyes.
At the end of the clip, Tom pecks his boy on the lips.
The comment section erupted with people having a lot to say about the kiss. One user writes: “Just gorgeous both, but don’t kiss him on the lips.”
Tom responded to the comment with: “I will continue to kiss my son on the lips. thank you.”
The TikToker made a follow-up video, addressing the comment, stating he ‘finds it worrying’ that someone should have an issue with him showing that level of affection towards his child.
He adds: “I will continue to kiss my five-year-old son for as long as I deem necessary and as long as he lets me.”
Tom also says he loves his son to pieces and he is his ‘best pal.’
One TikTok user shares that he shouldn’t be kissing his child due to bacteria in his mouth which could risk leading to giving his son cavities.
His son joins him in a video reply to the comment where he says: “Don’t be silly!”
The father and boy then kiss on camera again.
In a separate video, he addresses a comment, reading: “Don’t kiss your children on the lips. Fact. Because not all humans have the right intentions. Do you see what I’m saying, doesn’t make it acceptable.”
Tom is visibly frustrated in the video which now has over 200,000 views.
He responds to the comment: “So the logic here is, if I kiss my five-year-old, he will think that he can go off and it’s OK to kiss strangers, strange adults… obviously!”
“So let’s apply that logic. I can’t have him in my car anymore to take him places because he could get in a stranger’s car and think that’s normal,”
“He can’t live in my house anymore because – well, he could just walk in a stranger’s house and think that’s normal,”
“Or we could, now hear me out, we could… teach him that he’s got a mummy and a daddy and kissing them is normal, but kissing dodgy Barry down the road is a bit weird.”
Despite receiving backlash many users offered their support for the father, someone commented: “I’m flabbergasted that this guy is having to explain himself or justify why he kisses his little boy on the lips. People need to get a grip.”
Another types: “I’m 43 and I still kiss my dad on the lips. Keep showing love to your son and ignore the haters.”
“Something is really wrong with people if they find a problem with a parent kissing their child,” a third person adds.
A fourth replies: “I think this is a beautiful way to show your son you love him. Don’t change a thing!”
